"Greatness means: to give a direction." —Nietzsche
Workshop overview:
This week long workshop will help you present your work in the best light.
Every artist needs a portfolio and accompanying promotional materials. Whether you want to assemble a portfolio for the first time or you want to update an existing portfolio, using the latest techniques and technologies (inkjet printers, cds, the Web), this is the workshop for you.
We'll collaborate on the process of assembling a portfolio and integrated promotional materials that support the presentation of your work. We'll discuss ways of identifying and clarifying your artistic vision, ways to refine your existing images, and ways to make plans for future work. We’ll survey the business of art and identify the niches that are most appropriate for you. We'll explore examples of how other artists have met these challenges. And we’ll plan and produce effective, targeted marketing materials.
In depth portfolio reviews will set the stage for the week's efforts as we discuss editing and sequencing. We'll show you how you can take your work to the next level, allowing time for you to reflect on and refine your images in our state of the art digital lab. We'll use select writing exercises to reveal themes within your work and help plan your next step. We'll help you outline a comprehensive strategy to present your work in the most appropriate and effective ways. Finally, we'll begin the process of packaging your work for presentation with the utmost professionalism. You'll leave with the foundations put in place for, and work begun on, your own portfolio, card, leave behind, brochure, slideshow, mission statement, artist's statement, web domain, and basic web page.
It’s essential to master your craft. It's essential to focus and refine your artistic vision. It's equally essential to learn to present your work in the best light.
That's what this week is about.
