This is a unique opportunity to visit one of the most amazing places on this planet led by world-renowned photographers &#8211; John Paul Caponigro and Seth Resnick. Together we\u2019ll help you take your photography to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Itinerary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 1\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Marrakech<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We Explore one of the most interesting cities in Morocco \u2013 Marrakech. Winding your way through the lively medina (old town), with its colorful shops and souks (markets), and the famous Djemaa el\u2019Fna with the snake charmers, acrobats and storytellers. Highlights include the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, and the Medersa Ben Youssef Koranic School.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-40087\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/market.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/market.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/market-425x283.jpg 425w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 2\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Marrakech to Ouarzazate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We drive south across the magnificent High Atlas Mountains and the col of Tizi-n-Tichka, through small Berber villages in the Ounila Valley to one of the most impressive and well-preserved kasbahs (fortified village) and UNESCO world heritage site, the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou (a film location in numerous famous films such as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, Kundun, The Jewel of the Nile, and many more).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 3\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ouarzazate to M\u2019hamid<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We continue on through the mountains and the Draa Valley called Agdez along the life-giving Draa River clustered with huge date palm oases, a vital link between the Sahara and the north of Morocco for trading caravan routes. We go off-roads to the heart of several small Arab Berber villages steeped in traditional ways of life. After Zagora the landscape becomes more arid. Behind the small village of Tagounite, we\u2019ll drive off-road to reach the windswept dunes of Erg Lihoudi.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 4\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>M\u2019hamid to Chagaga Dunes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We visit the old kasbah of the village M\u2019hamid before heading off road passing through a panoply of desert features \u2013 erg (sand dunes), reg (rocky desert), hammada (stony desert) and oases \u2013 before arriving at the Chagaga Dunes, the largest dune field in Morocco, far from civilization. Bivouacing in traditional tents under the stars provides a night to remember.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-40088\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/merzouga_1copy-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/merzouga_1copy-1.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/merzouga_1copy-1-425x284.jpg 425w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 5\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chagaga Dunes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We spend the day, from sunrise to sunset, immersed in the vast Chagaga dune fields, constantly changing with the light.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 6\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chagaga Dunes to M\u2019hamid<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We spend a final morning in the Chagaga dune fields before breaking camp and returning to M\u2019hamid.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-40089\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/desert_camels_105.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/desert_camels_105.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/desert_camels_105-425x283.jpg 425w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 7\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>M\u2019hamid to Merzouga<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Driving to Zagora and along the Draa River we turn to Tansikht, Rissani, and Merzouga. Arriving at the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, we leave the car and mount camels to head into the sand dunes to our bivouac, enjoying the dunes both in golden hours and under the stars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 8\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Merzouga \u2013 Erg Chebbi Dunes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the Erg Chebbi at dawn before returning by camel to a nearby hotel for a refreshing swim and a final walk at another location in the dunes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 9\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Merzouga to F\u00e8s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After a final morning in the dunes, we drive to Erfoud, famous for its dates and fossils, and then continue, via the Ziz Valley, to Midelt, to cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, heading east via Ifrane, often called \u2018The Moroccan Switzerland\u2019, to F\u00e8s, the oldest of the four imperial cities and the cultural, intellectual and spiritual capital of Morocco.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 10\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>F\u00e8s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We explore F\u00e8s, considered the Athens of Africa, it is famous for its historical monuments, rich heritage and handicraft. You\u2019ll discover the mysterious Medina called F\u00e8s El Bali (another UNESCO World heritage site), with its narrow alleyways, shops, medersas, mosques, and residences. The small, charming mountain city Chefchaouen filled with blue and white painted architecture is a photographer\u2019s paradise.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-40092\" src=\"https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2_003.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2_003.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.johnpaulcaponigro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/2_003-425x284.jpg 425w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 13\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chefchaouen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visit the Kasbah of Chefchaouen, walk through the narrow lanes of the medina and enjoy the tiny shops offering special handicraft of the region, hike to the ruins of a small mosque overlooking the city from the top of a hill, enjoy a few refreshing moments at the hotel pool, before returning to the fascinating streets in the late afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n<p>After exploring the city, we\u2019ll convene for final group reviews sharing the images we\u2019ve made together.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Day 14\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chefchaouen to Marrakech<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visit the Hercules caves before arriving in Tangier.
