First, while many of these functions can be accessed through menu items, not all of them can; these features\u00a0are essentially\u00a0hidden to users who don&#8217;t know the\u00a0key commands. Second, key commands that make masking and selections easier and faster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Here&#8217;s a list of the most important Photoshop key commands related to masking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Option click<\/strong>\u00a0displays a mask in black and white.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Shift click<\/strong>\u00a0disables a mask.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Option Shift click<\/strong> displays a mask in red at 50% opacity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Double click <\/strong>on a mask displays options for changing the color and opacity of mask.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Command click<\/strong> loads a mask as a selection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Shift Command I click<\/strong>\u00a0loads an inverted selection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Shift Command click<\/strong> adds to an existing selection. (gradients add at 50% then 10% increments)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Drag and drop<\/strong> to move a mask from one layer to another.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Option drag and drop<\/strong> to copy a mask from one layer to another.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Delete<\/strong> fills a mask with the Background color.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Option Delete<\/strong> fills with the Foreground color.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Control click<\/strong>\u00a0on a mask to bring up a contextual menu of options\u00a0&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Disable Layer Mask<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/em>Delete Layer Mask<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/em>Apply Layer Mask<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/em>Add Layer Mask to Selection<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/em>Subtract Layer Mask From Selection<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/em>Intersect Layer Mask With Selection<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/em>Layer Mask Options &#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As masks are often\u00a0painted, brush key command are useful too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Numbers<\/strong>\u00a0change brush opacity.
