Brown is the color of earth. Brown is strongly associated with the material world and foundations. It evokes qualities like, grounded, down to earth, practicality, dependability, solidity, health. It’s thought of as wholesome, a precondition or support of fertility. It’s neutral with a hint of warmth, almost inert – lighter and more casual than black. Despite the fact that it is found year round, it is strongly associated with autumn. Although it comes in a dizzying array of permutations, encompassing most warm colors with low levels of saturation from near white to near black, it is nonetheless perceived as simple. It’s the color of skin.
